TURTON Chapeltown HIGH STREET Farmhouse (No 114), barn attached to No 114, and attached cottage (Nos 112 and 110)

(Formerly listed as Nos. 110, 112 and 114, (Former farmhouse, shippon and attached cottage), previously listed as 110, 112 and 114, HIGH STREET)

GV II Farmhouse and shippon of one build dated 1749 (in shippon), with attached cottage at right end. Coursed sandstone rubble with quoins (to farmhouse and shippon), roof of stone slates, and slates at left end of shippon, with chimneys at both end walls of farmhouse and at right gable of cottage.

Farmhouse (No. 114) has doorway offset left of centre, with large jambstones and lintel, and two flush mullion windows on each floor with three lights to left and four lights to right. Shippon continued to left has rounded wagon arch now blocked and containing a small window, two windows to the left, a door and a window to the right.

Cottage slightly set back at right end (Nos. 110 and 112) has apparently been restored in harmony with No. 114: it now has one central door with plain surround and two three-light flush mullion windows on each floor, that on the left of the door with altered masonry beneath and to the left; a set back single storey lean-to at the right end has a matching three-light window.

Rear: farmhouse has a three-light window at first floor but other openings mostly altered; shippon has canopy to wagon entrance, and a two-bay outshut beyond this.
