Circa 1500 origin, rebuilt C17 and Circa 1800. Corner site with Rollestone
street. 2 storeys and attic, stucco faced. Gable end old tile roof with paired
thin out brackets to flat eaves cornice. 3 casement dormers. 5 windows 1st
floor, 2nd from left blocked, tall flush architrave framed sashes on lst floor,
glazing bars intact. No 19 on ground floor has modern bowed shop window. No
21 has central 6 panel double door, rectangular fanlight with oval and curved
diamond glazing pattern. Flanking engaged fluted Doric columns reeded frieze,
centre panel enriched with acanthus leaves, key pattern soffit, moulded,dentil
cornice. Tripartite sash window, glazing bars, to left with mask keystone
and small glazed secondary door to right in plain arched opening, reeded springers,
mark keystone over. Front to Rollestone Street of similar design with gable
end to left, the cornice carried across. 2 blind roundels in gable. 1 dormer.
Formerly 5 windows (3 blocked) on lst floor. 4 windows (2 left hand blocked)
on ground floor and door to right with plain fanlight in architrave surround,
roundel corner blocks, small cornice. All ground floor windows have good mask
keystones.
Interior: from lst floor to attic Cl7 oak stairs, solid heavy string, turned
moulded balusters, chamfered rail, square newels with ball finials. Ground
floor has exposed ceiling beams and joists. Winchester Street range has remains
C15 roof or circa 1500, trusses, chamfered raised centre collar, remains of
former curved braces. Rollestone Street range has C17 3 bay roof structure,
2 plain collar principals, housed purlins. Nos 17 to 21 (odd) form a group.
