WESTGATE (South Side) No 61

(Formerly listed as Nos 61 and 63 (The White Horse Hotel))


Circa 1900. Tall building of three-storeys and attic with gable end to road; five close-set windows on each floor below modified entablature. Ashlar; windows have rounded top corners and are framed by triple pilasters with fancy capitals, panels above. Three arcaded attic windows, framed by lesenes and an ornamental frieze, among carved decoration with shield dated 1901. High pitched Welsh slate roof with elaborate right end chimney. On ground floor round-arched openings under pediments alternate with flat-headed ones. Central door.
