Farmhouse GV II Barns, stables and adjoining ranges. Early C19, with later alterations.
Brown brick with pantile roofs. U-shaped on plan, enclosing foldyard:
threshing barn/granary range to east side, stable range to south and south-
west sides, threshing barn/granary to north west; wall enclosing north side.
West range: 2-storey, 4-bay barn with single-storey stable range to south.
West side, facing road, has barn to left with segmental-arched entrance with
double board doors to fourth bay, and 3 arrow-shaped breathers to left;
single board hatch above, flanked by diamond-shaped breathers; cogged brick
eaves cornice, hipped roof. Stable range has board door to centre with wide
inserted opening to right with board doors beneath timber lintel, roof
hipped to right. North gable end of range has inserted waggon entrance
beneath timber lintel, with segmental-headed door above. East side of barn
has pair of segmental headed doors, slit breathers to ground- and first-
floor levels. South range: single-storey stables with 2-storey, 3-bay
stable/granary to right. South side: right half of stable range has 4 board
doors (the inner pair beneath segmental arches), and 3 windows, one with 3
panes above a board door, one with a board door, the third glazed, with 2
lights and a vertical glazing bar; section to left has blocked openings and
a row of pipe breathers. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Roof hipped to
left. Stable/granary to right has rebuilt ground-floor front with a central
board door flanked by a part-glazed hatch (3 panes over a board door) to
right and a waggon entrance to left, all beneath a timber lintel. 3-course
brick first-floor band. First floor: central board door flanked by blind
circular panels. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Hipped roof. North side,
partly obscured by C20 farmbuilding, has board doors flanked by ventilator
hatches to stable range. East range: 2 storeys, 9 bays. East side: blocked
waggon entrance beneath timber lintel and segmental arch, board door and
hatches with board doors. Above, alternating diamond-shaped breathers and
rectangular pitching hatches with board doors. Dentilled brick eaves
cornice, hipped roof. West side, facing foldyard, is obscured by C20
ranges. Part of an early C19 farm complex.
