GV II
House, later public house and fishermen's cottages, now all public house. Late C18 house with early C19 cottages altered C20. Painted plinth and walls, the house on herringbone tooled coursed squared stone and the cottages on render; slate roof; ridges partly terracotta, and painted chimneys. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3-window range; 2 cottages, (i) 2 low storeys, 2-window range and (ii) single storey, one window. House has central 6-panel door, lintel obscured by signboard; 4-pane sashes with slightly projecting painted stone sills on both floors, flanking and above door. Roof has painted stone gable coping and end chimneys with plinths and cornices. Cottage (i) with renewed door in return of square projecting porch with windows at left, central sash and right 3-light window, all renewed and the right with boarded fascia. 3 windows above are a low sash at eaves over porch, and gabled dormers breaking eaves at centre and right with 4-pane sashes. Low pitched roof has single tall chimney stack behind porch. Cottage (ii) with late C20 wide bay window. Part of the original fishing settlement of Old Saltburn. INTERIOR: retains C19 bar and fittings in public bar; lounge refitted late C20.
