Railway viaduct, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

This castellated viaduct across the River Nidd was influenced by the Medieval character of the town. It was built in 1851 by Thomas Grainger for the Leeds & Thirsk Railway.

View of the Widnes and Runcorn Transporter Bridge from the shore. It was opened in 1905 and was the largest bridge of this type ever. It was demolished after 1961 when a new high level road bridge was built.
