Windmill, Main Street, Croxton Kerrial, Leicestershire

This type of windmill is known as a smock mill. This one was built in the early 1800s. It is said to be the only known smock-mill in Leicestershire and Rutland. A windmill is shown on this site on the 1806 map. It was probably in use until 1916 when the wooden superstructure was removed or destroyed.
