Christ Church, Coatham Road, Redcar - Redcar and Cleveland (UA)

Christ Church was built in 1854 and its soaring spire of sandstone with limestone dressings is a local landmark. The external stonework is subject to advanced weathering and decay; but essential repairs to the spire and the tower were completed in 2020 through the National Lottery Heritage Fund Grants for Places of Worship scheme. The slated roof coverings are reaching the end of their serviceable life, and so far only the roofs to either side of the chancel valley and the north porch roof have been re-roofed. Windows are in disrepair and upper clerestory windows are particularly vulnerable.
