A collection of measured drawings, photographs, and correspondence relating to buildings designed, modified or restored by, or of interest to, the Caroe architectural practice, dating between 1847 and 1940. National coverage, primarily showing churches and other associated buildings, country houses and domestic buildings. Some Welsh and Irish coverage. The collection comprises the following series:
CAR01/01 A series of photographic material, including albums, exhibition photography, and mounted prints.
CAR01/02 A series of architectural measured drawings, the majority depicting ecclesiastical buildings. Access to the drawings is restricted because of their poor condition.
CAR01/03 A series of architectural measured drawings and ephemera relating to the Vann estate.
CAR01/04 A set of indexes and handlists relating to the Caroe collection.
CAR01/05 Sketch books containing notes and drawings made by W D Caroe.
CAR01/06 Associated material. CAR01/07 Sketch books and diaries containing notes and drawings made by A D R Caroe.
CAR01/08 Site files containing correspondence relating to client contracts.
CAR01/09 A series of lecture lantern slides relating to churches.
Received via Caroe 2004. Drawings sorted and indexed by David Birks and Elaine Arthurs as a temporary project shortly after the acquisistion.
