Description

During the First World War, the factory was used to manufacture explosives for the war effort. The explosion on 19th January 1917 killed 73 people and caused widespread damage to the local area.

The photograph, presumably taken for insurance purposes, is stamped on the reverse by the F O C Fire Protection Association.
