Description

Seaton Delaval Hall was built for Admiral George Delaval between 1718 and 1729 by Sir John Vanbrugh. The hall has a central main block with two wings extending north on either side, linked by arcaded single storey galleries. The east gallery houses the stables, with a coach house attached to the rear in the east. The front elevation has a ground floor arcade of 21 bays, and the first floor of the central building has 15 bays. The arcading has rusticated columns and round-headed arches, and links to the main block of the house. In the centre is a projecting three bays with pediment. It has a central entrance and blind arches either side. The parapet has urn finials throughout.
