Description

Photograph album labelled, 'Aerodromes: Buildings: Sculthorpe and Clapham Wind Tunnel', containing 43 black and white prints of Sculthorpe and Clapham Wind Tunnel, the latter alternatively known as Bedford Wind Tunnels, Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE), Thurleigh.

Images of Sculthorpe consist of interior views of chapel, infirmary, mess and theatre, or 'Happidrome', and exterior shots showing the construction of an unidentified building, possibly a control tower.

The photographs of Clapham Wind Tunnel show the construction of the auxiliary plant building and compressor hall and document the pre-cast yard and the work of stressing reinforced concrete beams. There are also interior views of the workshops, cooler bay and the compressor hall under construction, including views of the compressor blocks.
