Description

Photograph album labelled, 'No. 4', containing 61 black and white prints showing the construction of sections 1, 1A and 2 of the Bank of England. Included are images documenting some original features including interior of Soane halls, Sampson's foundation stone from under column to pay hall, bronze doors at Bartholomew Lane entrance, clerestory windows and old Bullion yard before demolition as well as images of demolition and steelwork, sub treasury dome, dumpling and sump excavations and general views of site.

Archival History

Laing Construction took over the London firm of Holloways in 1964. It is presumed that the photograph album was acquired at this point.
