The first bowling green in Leazes Park was in use by 1887. A second green, formerly a croquet lawn, was opened in 1894. In the interwar period, the original pavilion was altered or replaced by Springbank Pavilion, which was used by the Springbank Bowling Club and the Leazes Park Angling Association. This photograph was published on page 37 of 'Played in Tyne & Wear' by Lynn Pearson.
