The club was formed in 1875 and moved to the playing field at East Boldon in 1904. The pavilion was opened in May 1966, and was extended in 1974 with a block housing squash courts (shown on the left of this photograph). This photograph was published on the inside back cover of 'Played in Tyne & Wear' by Lynn Pearson.
