This series contains black and white and colour negatives relating mainly to maintenance of UK Government offical, military and research establishments. Subjects include: ventilation, lighting, office equipment, boilers, radiators, electrical systems, testing and manufacturing equipment, chimneys, damage and corrosion, atomic gloveboxes, and sewage and water treatment plants. Locations include Windsor Castle, National Gallery, Buckingham Palace, Victoria and Albert Museum, Somerset House, Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament), and Channel Navigation Service at Dover. Specific events include: deliveries of fuel to prisons in 1972 during fuel shortages, Ministry of Works staff working by candle light during power cuts in 1972, and Ministry of Works staff in the work environment, using early word processors, and in apprentice training.
