Torbay Cinema, Torbay Road, Paignton - Torbay (UA)

Cinema first licensed in 1912 and frequented by Agatha Christie. An extremely well preserved example of an early purpose-built cinema. The building closed in 1999 and Historic England helped with the transfer of ownership of the building to a new Trust. The Trust secured Coastal Revival funds in 2016 which have allowed the building to be accessible for public visits. A proposed grant from Historic England is in discussion in 2018 to address emergency work to the two-storey bay window. Further funding from other sources is being sought.
