Torbay Cinema, Torbay Road, Paignton - Torbay (UA)
Cinema first licensed in 1912 and frequented by Agatha Christie. An extremely well preserved example of an early purpose-built cinema which closed in 1999. In 2015 Historic England helped with the transfer of ownership of the building to a new Trust. Repairs to the front elevation and two-storey bay window have been completed in 2021 with grant aid from Historic England. Further feasibility work has been undertaken by theTrust to look at future uses within the building and the first phase of its re-use will be developed with money from the Future High Streets Fund.
