Description

A collection of 6 black and white record images of war damaged terraced housing in Wandsworth, London. The images show the interior and exterior of original pre- Second World War terraced housing, and were taken by the Ministry of Works. The images partial damage to the buildings, including interior cracks and blasted brick work. In order to alleviate the acute housing shortages of the immediate postwar years, the Ministry of Works became the government department tasked with the organisation and efficiency of the push for housing construction.

The original Ministry of Works storage envelope lists operator as “B”.
