THE IRONWORKING RESIDUES FROM RAUNDS FURNELLS, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE.

Author(s): J G McDonnell

Excavations at the Medieval Manor Site of RaundsFurnells produced evidence of iron smithing in the pre-Manor phases and after its destruction. There was also a small quantity of smelting slag present. Analysis showed the slags to be typical fayalitic slags, with the smelting slags containing a low percentage of manganeseoxide.
