Church of St Mary, Cleeton St Mary, Bitterley - Shropshire (UA)
This church was built in 1876-8 and designed by Thomas Nicholson. It consists of a chancel with a lean-to north vestry and a nave with a tower built into its west end. Recent repairs to the chancel roof have confirmed that the original tile batten fixings are failing and require renewal: other roofs are of the same date so must be considered equally suspect. Rainwater goods and the surface water drainage system also require overhauling. Following an unsuccessful application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2019, fundraising for a repairs project has effectively stalled.
