Church of St Mary, Cleeton St Mary, Bitterley - Shropshire (UA)

This church was built in 1876-8 and designed by Thomas Nicholson. It consists of a chancel with a lean-to north vestry and a nave with a tower built into its west end. Recent repairs to the chancel roof have confirmed that the original tile batten fixings are failing and require renewal: other roofs are of the same date so must be considered equally suspect. Rainwater goods and the surface water drainage system also require overhauling. A recent grant application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund was unsuccessful so the congregation are investigating other sources of grant funding.
