Description

Laing’s Southern Region was awarded the main contract for the refurbishment and extension of Brixton Police Station, which was originally built in 1953. Work on the main contract started on 31st October 1983. This included the construction of a large multi-storey extension, provision of new cells, bigger canteen facilities, and extensive refurbishments to the existing station. A temporary police station was built to the rear of the main building for the public to use while refurbishment work was in progress. The station was officially opened in July 1987 by HRH The Prince and Princess of Wales.
