Description

It is thought that the tavern was established by 1625, occupying a detached site a few metres to the north of the present statue of William Booth and standing separate from the main run of buildings on Mile End Road. The Vine was demolished in 1903.

The photograph was taken for the London Survey Committee, forerunner of the Survey of London.
