Description

The 129 drawings of Monk Bretton Priory date from 1934 to 1999. The earliest drawings are the sixteen from a 1934 Office of Works survey of a barn for conversion to a guesthouse.

There is one rubbing from a grave marker from the 1930s.

From the late 1960s and early 1970s are several drawings relating to the stability of the priory due to its location over coal seams, including a 1970 Ministry of Public Buildings and Works plan showing the difference in level heights between a 1958 and 1969 survey and cracks to the fabric of the buildings.

From Between 1972 and 1976 the Department of the Environment produced seventeen drawings for further alterations to the custodian's cottage and plans for a new ticket office and toilet block.

There are nine photogrammetric surveys made by the Photogrammetric Unit at the University of York for the Department of the Environment from 1980.

From around 1980 are nine drawings of grave markers from the Priory, probably made by the Department of the Environment. In 1983 and 1984 the Department of the Environment planned improvements to the visitor facilities, resulting in seven drawings.

In 1994 Mason Land Surveys Ltd produced a photogrammetric survey of ten drawings of the gatehouse for English Heritage.

The latest drawings are seven copies of the 1994 survey of the gatehouse amended in 1995 by English Heritage to show repairs to the stonework.
