3 & 4 Holt Road, Edgefield, Norfolk

These houses were built in 1912. They are a rare example of parish council housing and of pre 1914 local authority housing. They were built by the parish council in a 1/2 acre of land, each for £150. The later refusal of the District Council to take over some responsibility for the extra rates incurred by them lead to questions in Parliament. This led to a ruling that housing was a District, not Parish, responsibility.
