Egypt House, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire

This house is dated 'R.W. 1698'. The R.W. stands for Richard Webb. Records tell us that Richard was a clothier. He had bought the nearby Egypt Mill in 1675. It was a fulling mill, for processing wool. The mill stayed in the Webb family until the 1800s. The house itself is also a good and early example of a cross-gabled Cotswold house.
