Hardwick Old Hall, Ault Hucknall, Derbyshire

The Hill Great Chamber fireplace and decorative plaster overmantel. Hardwick Old Hall was a country house that is now derelict. It largely dates from between 1587 when Bess of Hardwick began to re-model the early 16th century house and 1597 when she moved to the New Hall. The ruins of Hardwick Old Hall are next door to Hardwick New Hall. It is owned by the National Trust and managed by English Heritage. Both the Old and New halls are open to the public. This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010) but owned by the National Trust.
