Lindisfarne Priory, Holy Island, Northumberland

A view of the west end of the ruins of the priory church as viewed from across the churchyard. The church dates from 1093-1140, the other ruins are later. It has been a holy site since 634 AD. A Benedictine Monastery was founded here in the 12th century. The priory was dissolved in 1537. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
