Monument, Stanford, Northamptonshire
This monument commemorates Lieutenant Percy Piltcher. He flew here in Stanford Park using an early flying machine on 30th September 1899. It was a type of glider called the 'Hawk'. He was killed when the machine broke and he fell 30ft (10m) to the ground.
