Nunney Castle, Nunney, Somerset

A perspective view of Nunney Castle from across the moat. The castle was built soon after 1373 by Sir John de la Mare on a very cramped moated site. The French-styled castle proved little opposition to beseiging Parliamentarians during the Civil War and has decayed since. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
