Walton Castle, Clevedon, North Somerset

This castle was, in fact, a crenellated Gothic folly/hunting lodge. It was built in c1620 by the first Lord Poulett. His family were from Hinton St George in Somerset. It is on the south-western end of Walton Common, overlooking Clevedon. The castle had fallen into ruins by the 1790s. The first rebuilding of the castle began in 1979.
