Description

The Lyttleton Cinema, or simply the Lyttleton, was opened in 1938. The building was designed by Charles Edmund Wilford, with a brick tower and vertical fin bearing a sign with the cinema's name. The Lyttleton Cinema was sold to Ladbrokes in 1973. It was used as a bingo club between 1974 and its closure in 1989, apart from a brief time in 1976 when its sole use was as a cinema. The date of this photograph is not known, but it is likely during the building's second period of use as a bingo club, between 1976 and 1989.
